Pear, Keiffer

Pyrus communis x Pyrus pyrifolia ‘Kieffer’

Kieffers are a cross between an Asian and European pear. They produce a large, golden yellow fruit with some crimson blush. The flesh is white, crisp, and coarse. Preserves very well, and is great for canning and baking. It requires low chill hours (about 350-400). It is cold hardy, as well as heat and drought resistant. It is resistant to Fireblight.
